Lower division undergrads would probably have a tough time if they started off with Dinosaur Paleobiology. Dave and Dave's book is probably the best dinosaur textbook for a general audience (along with Tony Martin's book). Dinosaur Paleobiology is a bit more specialized, and more of a review of dinosaur science for an upper division/grad student/researcher crowd. The obvious thing to do, though, is read and buy both of them! :-)Steve Brusattehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00625261934625494952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5519292617097628087.post-57733414738763195242012-12-07T23:00:32.007-07:002012-12-07T23:00:32.007-07:00Jerrold - I think the two books are meant for diff...Jerrold - I think the two books are meant for different audiences. Fastovsky & Weishampel is definitely geared more towards a lower division non-major university survey course; the type folks take to satisfy distribution requirements or for fun. In contrast, Brusatte's book is for a bit more specialized audience.220myahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06403919493457640549noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5519292617097628087.post-18733205457100376462012-12-07T19:24:29.686-07:002012-12-07T19:24:29.686-07:00I did forget about Steve's new book...I bought...I did forget about Steve's new book...I bought a copy but have not had a chance to read it yet, but I believe it too has an early dinosaur chapter so my apologies.Bill Parkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05941940882532354219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5519292617097628087.post-73197362546876578972012-12-07T14:35:02.070-07:002012-12-07T14:35:02.070-07:00It's a great book but I feel Steve Brusatte...It's a great book but I feel Steve Brusatte's Dinosaur Paleobiology is a necessary complement.
